Video-Only Assignment Each group will receive a one-sentence scenario such as, "Julie is hungry but doesn't want to eat in the cafeteria." You will then have time to plan your story, go into the field to shoot raw footage, edit the piece and present it to the class. But there are some restrictions and guidelines to follow: 1--Your video will be just that, video only. No audio allowed on the edited piece. 2--You can only shoot five minutes of raw footage. If you go over, all footage past five minutes will be erased before you edit. 3--The final edited version will last 45 seconds to one minute. If you go over, it better be very captivating video! 4--Creativity is encouraged. This assignment often brings hilarious results. But remember to illustrate/solve the scenario you've been assigned. Stay on-topic. 5--No special effects allowed--no stills, no strobing, no dissolves, no digital effects of any kind. Remember to follow basic shooting techniques we have discussed already. White balance. Framing. Use a tripod whenever possible. Make sure you give some pre-roll time before starting the action. Feel free to use creative angles and shots, but not at the expense of meeting the specific assignment. Feel free to use as many people as you need on-camera to fulfill this assignment. Before deciding you have enough footage, come in and review what you've shot to be sure. Good Luck!
