People Camping and Cooking

Having the right meal is one way to enjoy your camping experience and while this is never a problem, it is important to plan ahead of the trip. The key is to find something that is easy to prepare by your campfire. It should also provide sufficient nutrition and meal experience. There are a lot of great camping recipes available to find on the Internet. Here is a look at 5 of those  great recipes you can try out next time you plan your camping trip:

1. Pizza Mountain Pie

This is one of my favorite pizza camping recipes of all time and I always pack some when going for an excursion. It is also very easy to prepare and takes roughly 10 minutes per serving.

Ingredients

• Softened butter
• Sliced white bread
• Pizza sauce
• Shredded mozzarella cheese
• Sliced pepperoni
• Green pepper (optional)

Instructions

Spread the butter over each bread slice; use 2 slices of bread per serving.
With the buttered side facing down, place one slice in the sandwich iron and spread with pizza sauce.

Sprinkle 2 tablespoons of the shredded/part-skim mozzarella cheese and pepperoni. You can also add green pepper if you so desire.

Top the slice with cheese and another bread slice, this time with the buttered side facing up. Close the sandwich iron.

Cook your pizza over hot campfire until the bread turns golden brown and cheese is fully melted. This should take around 3-6 minutes; remember to turn the bread occasionally as you cook.

Sheep-Herders Breakfast Camping Recipe

2. Sheep-Herders Breakfast

Although this delicious dish is ideal for those with many kids or a larger family, it is still quite relevant for campers and can be served with juice, coffee, milk, toast… In fact, it is one of the best camping breakfasts you can use to give you the energy and moods required to explore.

Ingredients

• Fine chop bacon strips
• Chopped onion
• Frozen hash potatoes (shredded and thawed)
• Large eggs
• Salt and pepper
• Shredded cheddar cheese

Instructions

Cook the bacon and onion in a large skillet over medium heat until it is crisp. Drain away the remains, but retain some of the drippings in a pan.

Stir in the hash brown potatoes and cook uncovered for 10 minutes over medium heat. Make sure the bottom is golden brown before turning the potatoes.

Use a spoon to create even wells on the potato mixture and break an egg into each well. Sprinkle with salt and your chosen pepper.

Cook the mixture covered over low heat for 10 minutes until the eggs are set. Sprinkle some cheese and cook for another 2 minutes until it is melted.

3. Campfire Herbed Corn

You may think there isn’t much one can achieve with some fresh summer corn. However, little spices and herbs could make this campfire herbed corn recipe your best. It can be used for breakfast, lunch or even dinner and has the required calories and energy.

Ingredients

• Softened butter
• Fresh parsley (minced)
• Fresh chives (minced)
• Dried thyme
• Salt and cayenne pepper
• Husked sweet corn

Instructions

Simply mix all the ingredients (except the corn) in a small bowl and beat them until they are blended.

Scoop one tablespoon of the mixture and spread over each corn (the ear). Wrap each corn independently in heavy duty foil.

Cover the corn before grilling over medium heat for 10 to 15 minutes or until the corn is tender. While grilling, open the cover to turn occasionally.

Remember to open the foil carefully to prevent the steam from escaping and burning your face.

4. S’Mores Camp Recipe

This is one of those delicious treats you can quickly prepare to bring you the taste of home far within your camping trips. It is simply a slight twist on the classical s’mores recipe and includes some Nutella and crackers.

Ingredients

• Oreo cookies
• Creamy peanut butter
• Halved graham crackers
• Quartered chocolate candy bar
• Marshmallows

Instructions

Simply spread butter over both sides of each cookie and place over some graham crackers. Top it with chocolate.
Toast the marshmallows using a metal skewer or fork. Make sure the marshmallows are at least 5 inches from medium heat and toast until they are golden brown.

Place them on chocolate and cover with remaining crackers.

5. Campfire Hash Snack

This is a hearty recipe that can be adjusted to make you a quick satisfying and delicious snack within minutes. The sweet aroma makes it perfect after a busy day full of activities.

Ingredients

• Large chopped onion
• Canola oil
• Minced garlic cloves
• Peeled cubed large potatoes

Properly Maintaining Your Polished Concrete Floors in the Cold of Minneapolis

A polished concrete floor is a sight for sore eyes. Not only will it make a good impression on your guests it will also define the room. According to concrete Minneapolis MN experts, polished concrete floors require the least maintenance among the different flooring possibilities. Such little effort on your part is needed, so as to increase, not only its lifespan but more importantly the shine on your floors.

Microfiber Pad

When cleaning polished concrete it is best to use a microfiber pad rather than your usual rag. Concrete normally has soil as one of its components and this functions as a form of abrasive and therefore can attract a lot of dust particles. When stacked together the dust particles can ruin the luster and clarity of the floor. Using a microfiber pad gives you the best results as it can get rid of most dirt patches without scratching the floor.

Washing Your Concrete Floors

When performing a wet wash of the floor, concrete Twin Cities MN specialists recommend you only use clean mop and water for the task. For residential homes you need just bucket cleaning to do it right but for commercial buildings an automatic floor scrubber is ideal.

Here is a quick video that shows you how to wash and polish larger concrete floors.

Neutral Floor Cleaner

If your concrete floor sees a lot of heavy traffic and therefore a high amount of dirt and particles present it is recommended that you use a neutral floor cleaner in wet mops. Plain water may not cut it while a neutral floor cleaner can pick up dust and debris much more easily and results in you finishing the job in half the time.  If you are applying cleaner to the surface of the floor, allow enough time to mop all the dust and debris before rinsing.  Moreover, do not allow the cleaner to dry while performing your run. Try and do a systematic approach instead of a random one to achieve a higher level of cleaning efficiency.

Usually once every two years you might need to re-polish your concrete floor in order to ensure its clarity and luster.  Talk to a professional polisher for more details.

Guide to Finding a Dependable Home Contractor

By

Home Contractor in McMinnville Oregon

For many homeowners the biggest challenge is finding the right contractor to do the job right the first time and on time. Everyone by now must have heard horror stories about contractor that tore down a wall and dug a hole in the basement and never returned after a weekend or the one that gave a good estimate only to charge you 3x more than what you expected. To remove the guesswork out of hiring a dependable one, here are some tips.

Know What You Want

According to General Contractor McMinnville Oregon specialists, it is best to begin with a plan and some ideas before talking to a contractor immediately. Knowing what you want will net you a much more accurate estimate of the project including materials.

Get References

Talk to your friends, colleagues and neighbors if they would want to recommend someone for the job. Word of mouth is a very powerful tool to convince people about the reputation of someone in the same vein it can be used to crush them.

Interview at least Three Home Contractors

The most common mistake people make when selecting a contractor is interviewing just one person for the job. Talk to at least three experienced candidates and request for a written bid from each one.  When comparing bids do ensure that they are using the same materials for the job and do not be afraid to negotiate.

Don’t be Turned Off by Busy Contractors

A reliable Contractor from McMinnville Oregon is busy with projects. Those that are not hired all the time have too much time on their hands. Busy contractors means they are good so don’t be turned off if the one you chose won’t be able to begin the work immediately.

Check Licenses and Insurance

Most general contractors need to operate with a license although the practice varies depending on where you are.  You may also want to check the disciplinary boards as well as the BBB for references or complaints.

Get a Detailed Contract

Don’t just sign on the dotted line. Verify what is written on the contract and talk it out loud with your contractor to ensure he is on the same page with you.  If it is not documented on the contract he might deny that you ever talked about it in the first place. Any change on the project should be reflected on paper and signed by both

What To Know When Renting A Self Storage Unit

Renting a self storage unit is one of the easiest things that you will ever do. It will allow you to clean up your house , and any other structures on your property. This is something that people do when they are getting ready to move. You can put everything into an affordable self storage unit, and the following tips will make it very easy to find one that is just right for you.

Where To Begin Your Search For Self Storage Units

The first place that you should start looking for self storage units is in the local paper. You will find many of them advertising in the classifieds, and by doing so, you can find many of them that are currently offering special deals. There will be a phone number that you can call, allowing you to ask about the rates that they have , and the sizes of the storage units that they have available. Once you have called several companies, you will have information on how much it will cost, and how large the units are at each facility.

Using The Internet To Find Self Storage Units

The second step that you should take is finding self storage units that are ranking on the Internet. They will either have organic listings, or they will be in the local listings, and this is where you can find a lot of pertinent information. You will see reviews that have been left by people that have used the facilities before. Some of them may also have star ratings. This can give you an inside look at how these businesses operate with the customers that they have, and this can help you make the right choice.

Deciding On The Right Unit

There will be several different sizes at each of these facilities for the storage units that they offer. For example, they might have a 5 x 10 storage unit, a 10 x 15 storage unit, and they may go up from there. In regard to square footage, a 10 x 15 storage unit will have 150 square feet of space. The ceilings are usually 8 feet high. This is typically enough to pack in what would normally fit in two or three rooms, so you can use that assessment to determine which one you should rent, and how many you will need.

Special Offers For The Month

One other way that you can save money is taking advantage of special deals that are offered by these companies. They could be offering the storage units at a discounted price. It may only be available for a few days, and they use this scarcity tactic in order to get new customers. This is how you will be able to save money on one or more units. Keep in mind that some of them may require you to pay for a couple months in advance. If this is advantageous for you, and your budget, you should definitely consider doing this. Otherwise, they will likely just charge less per month on the storage units they have available, helping you to save money.

Always Visit The Facility Before Renting

One other suggestion is that you should go to the facility that you would like to rent from before you actually pay. Most people do this, especially those that would like to pay in person. It is unlikely that you will simply pay them over the phone, without going to the storage site to check it out before you rent one. You need to know where it is, how it looks, and also the type of security that is offered so that you can feel comfortable leaving your merchandise there.

This basic overview of how to find, assess, and ultimately rent a self storage unit should help you find the best ones in your city. These tips can help you find the ones that are the most affordable, and you will also be able to choose from the different sizes that are available so that you will have enough space for all of your merchandise. It is recommended that you go to each facility to check it out before signing up over the phone. It needs to be close enough to where you live, and it should also have proper security so that all of your belongings will be safe.
